Drawing Program

If you can't afford paid programs, you can try alternatives! Check this thread to know more. Can't afford a tablet? I started working with vector, using Inkscape, so take a look at vector programs!

If you wish to invest, Clip Studio Paint (CSP) goes on sale every-so-often, I recommend checking it out since it has more tools than SAI and on sale it's cheaper.

Canvas Size

Does the canvas size matter? Well, it depends your purpose with the final drawing, do you want just post it digital? Print? Wallpaper?

All of these things you can google about, you can search for wallpaper sizes if it's your objective. Or printing sizes if you wish to sell it someday, then the DPI will make some difference, I keep it in 300.

But if you are just a beginner and want to practice, has a small screen and poor computer (me years ago)~ then draw what your computer can afford! Use small canvas if necessary, simple settings, and yeah. Practice with the tools you have right now, don't wait for some miracle to happen ;3
